A newly constructed pay-and-use toilet was inaugurated on Thursday at Arkong Ward, Mokokchung, near Yongpang Market, marking a significant milestone in local infrastructure development.
Speaking at the event, chairman of Arkong Ward Yimden, Toshimeren, expressed gratitude to Hulash Chand Saini, proprietor of Survival Enterprise, Arkong Ward, for generously funding the construction of the facility.
He also extended appreciation to the landowners, Ungma Yimpang Pongen Kidong and the family of late Tsukjem of Ungma, for providing the plot of land necessary for the establishment of the much-needed amenity, describing it as the first of its kind in Mokokchung town.
Emphasizing the importance of maintenance, the Ward chairman urged residents to take responsibility for ensuring cleanliness and hygiene. The facility, equipped with separate sections for males and females, is now open to the public at a charge of Rs. 10 for urinals and Rs. 20 for toilets.
Addressing attendees, donor Hulash Chand Saini expressed satisfaction at the successful completion of the project and encouraged continued community cooperation for future initiatives. A dedicatory prayer for the facility was pronounced by deacon MTBA, Sashiwati, marking the official opening of the toilet for public use.
