Political parties and organizations across Nagaland have expressed profound grief at the passing of Nokpangmenla Chingwang, wife of N. Chingwang Konyak, president of the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP), at Guwahati on Thursday.
NDPP: In a condolence message, NDPP acknowledged her invaluable role in providing comfort and counsel to those who sought her wisdom.
The party expressed profound sorrow over her demise, recalling her steadfast role in supporting Chingwang throughout his decades-long political journey. Fondly known as Ma’am Amenla, she was widely admired for her gracious hospitality, making every visitor feel valued and welcomed, NDPP said. The party members considered her a guiding figure and will dearly miss her presence.
NPF: Naga People’s Front (NPF) described her as a woman of extraordinary grace and fortitude, calling her passing an irreparable loss to the Naga community. The party extended its deepest sympathies to Konyak, his grieving family, and their president, Apong Pongener, whose wife was Amenla’s first cousin.
Lok Sabha MP: Lok Sabha MP, S. Supongmeren Jamir expressed deep sorrow, highlighting her kindness and the profound impact of her presence. He conveyed his prayers and condolences to the bereaved family, hoping they find solace during this difficult time.
C.L. John: Minister of Environment, Forest & Climate Change and Village Guard, C.L. John, expressed sorrow on the demise of the passing of Amenla, wife of Chingwang Konyak. In a condolence note, CL John emphasized her remarkable contributions and urged everyone to celebrate her life with gratitude and prayer. He extended condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for peace and solace for the departed soul.
EKU: Eastern Konyak Union (EKU) also paid tribute, acknowledging Konyak’s leadership and affectionately referring to him as “Papa Chingwang.” Though unable to attend the funeral, the union extended condolences and prayers for the grieving family.

NPP: National People’s Party (NPP), through its Nagaland State president and A. Nyamnyeyi Konyak MLA, joined in mourning her loss, recognizing her as a woman of dignity and quiet strength.
Ex-PAN: On behalf of Ex-PAN Nagaland, Kohima, vice president C. John Konyak honored Amenla as a pillar of strength, love, and unwavering support. He described her as an inspiration to many, saying she was “the woman behind the success of her man.”
