
The Trained Nurses’ Association of India (TNAI) Dimapur Unit and School of Nursing, IMDH Mokokchung celebrated International Nurses’ Day on May 12, 2025 under the theme “Our Nurses, Our Future: Caring for Nurses Strengthens Economies.”
Speaking at the event, Dr. Keveduyi Theyo, medical superintendent, emphasized that nurses are the backbone of healthcare, describing nursing as a calling to serve, comfort, and heal.
Theme speaker, Limasungla Aier, general secretary of TNAI Dimapur Unit, highlighted the challenges nurses face and the Nurses’ Agenda for Sustainable Workforce Well-being, which included: adequate staffing and proper skill mix for effective care, investment in essential resources and equipment, safe and decent working conditions, support for education and professional growth and fair and competitive compensation.
Student Nurses Association (SNA) School of Nursing District Hospital Dimapur (SON. DHD) presented a role play based on the theme. The event also featured a special prayer by Rev. Yhunlo Thong, chaplain of DHD, and a song performance by nurses of DHD.
Bendangnaro, principal of SON DHD, acknowledged the outgoing office bearers and executive members of TNAI Dimapur Unit, while the Nursing Sisters of DHD entertained attendees with a short play.
The program was chaired by Medokhole, president of TNAI Dimapur Unit, and concluded with a vote of thanks by Senlemtula, vice president of TNAI Dimapur Unit. Mokokchung: International Nurses’ Day was also observed at the Multi-Purpose Hall, School of Nursing, IMDH Mokokchung, under the same theme.
Speaking at the event, principal of School of Nursing IMDH, T. Temsusenla Aier, urged nurses to reaffirm their dedication to their noble profession, emphasizing their crucial role in healthcare and the importance of mental and physical well-being.
Meanwhile, associate pastor women, MTBA, Shilula Imchen, spoke about the spiritual significance of nursing, likening it to the ministry of Jesus and encouraging nurses to adopt healing touch therapy in their practice.
