Yimkhiung Akherü Arihako (YAA) hosted the 3rd M. Chuba Meritorious Award at Hotel Saramati, Dimapur, on May 12.
Thurila K Yimchunger received the prestigious award for her outstanding achievements.
The event was graced by IGP (Retd.) Richard Yimto, who emphasized the importance of consistency in academic success and the role of parents in guiding their children toward their full potential.
Rithrong, personal secretary to the minister for Housing and Mechanical Engineering, urged students to embrace technology and explore diverse career paths, noting the decline in government job opportunities.
The highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of the M. Chuba Meritorious Award to Thurila K Yimchunger, which included a cash prize of Rs. 1 lakh, a citation, and a memento. She shared her inspiring journey, reflecting on the challenges and triumphs of her academic career.
The program also featured speeches by representatives from various organizations, including Western Yimkhiung Hoho (WYH) and Yimkhiung Gazetted Officers’ Association (YGOA). A musical performance by Esther Jans and a special prayer by Rev. Dr. Athsan of YBC Dimapur.
The event was chaired by Mukam Merr (YAA P&I secretary), with opening remarks by YAA president Keyoungkhum and a keynote address by Tsukhumla, daughter of late M. Chuba, who highlighted the award’s significance. YAA general secretary Toshikhiung delivered the vote of thanks, and concluded with a benediction by Tsusola of YBC Diphupar ‘B’.
