The Naga National Council (NNC) has called upon all Nagas, regardless of affiliation or location, to observe and celebrate the momentous occasion of the 75th Naga Plebiscite Day on May 16.
While extending heartfelt greetings and best wishes to all Nagas, both at home and abroad, NNC joint secretary Acüyi Vadeo asserted that “this historical milestone of our nation is inalienable.”
Vadeo said that “since the sovereign Naga people constituted the Naga National Council in 1946 to uphold the sovereignty of our people as a nation, the NNC formally declared the age-old Naga Independence on August 14, 1947 in Kohima and subsequently conducted the voluntary Naga Plebiscite on 16th May, 1951 at Khouchiezie (Kohima local ground).
