Rising People’s Party (RPP) has said that the “deafening silence” of the PDA government on IAS officer, Reny Wilfred, accused of sexual offence, exposed not just the moral bankruptcy of the officer but the “rotten nexus shielding him.”
RPP through its media cell, reminded that the IAS officer Reny Wilfred accused under POSCO Act for violating minor girls and systematically “preying on female subordinates” does not only walk free but continues move through the corridors of power “with increasing arrogance.” That is why, RPP said, instead of being placed under suspension, the state government rewarded Wilfred adding “this is criminal collusion at the highest level.”
RPP said the “Metha-Rio-Wilfred nexus” remains a festering wound on public discourse, and asked why the primary complainant Abu Metha, IDAN chairman and also chief minister Dr. Neiphiu Rio, remained conspicuously mute? RPP wondered if Wilfred’s immunity was a “quid pro quo for buried secrets?” and so, who was obstructing the wheels of justice?
RPP said the “stench of complicity” reaches the Chief Minister’s Office and linked this with Wilfred having openly claimed he had been approached to topple the government. RPP also said Wilfred ridiculed the judiciary and slandered the Nagaland State Commission for Women.
RPP said even various women’s organizations (NMA, AWO) and student bodies (NSF, DNSU) had demanded justice for the victims but their pleas were disregarded. RPP said this silence only confirmed that “Rio’s administration is held hostage by this all-powerful bureaucrat.”RPP hit out at the NDPP and questioned the PDA government’s model of “women empowerment” and “good governance.”
It warned the government against pursuing vendetta politics against women complainants in the IDAN department with threats of termination of jobs and transfer. RPP vowed that it will be closely watching the issue. RPP concluded that the “dirty episode exposes the putrid underbelly of Nagaland’s power structure- and it continues to grow” and that sooner or later, “this unholy protection and nexus must break.”
