The District Health Society, Peren, observed World Hypertension Day at Samzuiram Village on May 16 under the theme, “Measure Your Blood Pressure Accurately, Control It, Live Longer.”
As part of the observance, 46 individuals were screened for blood sugar and blood pressure and received health counseling focused on the prevention and management of non-communicable diseases (NCDs).
Addressing the gathering, Zonal Leprosy Officer (ZLO), Peren, Dr. Viholi, emphasized the importance of understanding and managing hypertension and diabetes. She highlighted key symptoms, risk factors, and preventive measures, stressing the need for regular physical activity and reduced consumption of salt and oil.
She also discussed cancer awareness, treatment options, and encouraged a healthy lifestyle by avoiding alcohol and tobacco and adopting a diet rich in fruits and vegetables. The program was attended by stakeholders, ASHA’s and supporting staffs.
