DDG (NER) NCC Brig P R Sharma accompanied by his wife, Nirja Sharma arrived in the state on a two-day visit to carry out the Annual Administrative Inspection of the Kohima based Group HQs and all its Units.
According to a defence release, Brig Sharma discussed about the various scheduled activities of NCC in the state for the following year and the conduct of the ensuing Special National Integration Camp coinciding with the annual Hornbill Festival of Nagaland.
Group Commander, Col Amrit Khanna, appraised the visiting Brig on the rise in enrolment of NCC cadets in the state attributing it to the smooth conduct of various camps and activities. Col Khanna expressed his gratitude to the state government under chief minister, Neiphiu Rio and also the Governor, Sankaranarayanan for their support to the NCC.
The release stated that Brig Sharma haddetailed discussions with K T Sakhalu, IAS, Commissioner and Secretary, Youth Resources and Sports, Government of Nagaland. During the meeting, Sakhalu expressed on the urgent need of NCC Battalion in the state, which he felt would give a tremendous boost towards fulfilling the aspirations of the cadets from across the length and breadth of the state.
