As part of its community service activities, Kalyanmayee – Airports Authority of India Women Welfare Association- Dimapur Airport in association with Blood Bank, Dimapur district hospital on Wednesday organised a voluntary blood donation camp at Airport premises.
Addressing the gathering, organised on the sidelines of a blood donation camp, Dr. T Temsu, senior specialist in-charge of blood bank acknowledged the contribution and initiative of women association and further thanked for coming forward.
Dr. Temsu while asserting that normally about 1/20th of overall blood presence was taken out from the body urged the donors that by donating blood one was stimulating blood production system of the body.
He also said that a donor besides donating blood gets the privilege to receive free screening of diseases including HIV, VDRL, hepatitis B and C and malaria at the same time.
Altogether 50 AAI employees including CISF personnel donated the blood while a total of 50 units of blood were collected.
Meanwhile, Dimapur district hospital earlier on September 20 and 22 also organised a voluntary blood donation camp at SD Jain College and SM College respectively, where around 35 students inclusive of both the colleges donated blood.
