The Tikhir tribal council (TTC) has clarified that Tatar Rechungkiu was killed by the GPRN/NSCN (IM) on July 12 and the killing or elimination should not be blamed either to TTC, to former president of TTC Khiapong or to Tikhir Limitsong groups which was a Tikhir tribal volunteer forces. Referring to the a news item that appeared on July 30 under the caption ‘GPRN/NSCN on killing of Tatar Rechungkiu”, TTC vice president R. Rosang Tikhir stated that the news item was “totally baseless”. It stated that the news item might have been fabricated and published by some vested interested groups individually or collectively in the name of GPRN/NSCN.
