Fazl Ali College (FAC), the oldest college in the state, though with its high stature and prestige has been ignored and sidelined in terms of development.
General secretary, Fazl Ali College Students Union, Nungshimeren, while talking with this correspondent quoted Neiphiu Rio’s speech delivered at Ao Student Conference where he (Rio) cited an example of Sachin Tendulkar, who is a millionaire sportsman. However, even after more than fifty years since the establishment of the college, the playground is yet to see light at the end of the tunnel as it does not have a proper drainage system, retaining wall and rostrum.
Nungshimeren said despite the fact that FAC was recognized and accredited under NAAC, it would be embarrassing when the NAAC enquiry team visits the college in five years time to check upon the development and growth of the college.
Looking at the present scenario, he lamented the college is not faring as expected and advocated that every student and the faculty must contribute for the betterment of the college if they do not want to lose their hard earned accreditation. Besides, he also indicated the absence of gallery, retaining wall and a proper rostrum at the college ground, and scarcity of water in the govt. run hostels especially during winter season.
