Along with the rest of the nation, teachers in Nagaland were also honoured on Teachers’ Day celebration, which was observed across the state Thursday.
The day, which is celebrated to mark the birth anniversary of former President Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, a great teacher and academic philosopher, is dedicated to the teachers.
Speaking as chief guest at the combined Teachers’ Day celebration at Town Hall, Dimapur, educationist and retired director higher education, Dr. Arenla Tali called upon the teachers to be prepared professionally and technologically to meet pupils in this fast changing world.
Commenting on Right to Education (RTE) Act’s no detention policy, in which no students could be held back or expelled from school till class VIII, she said the policy was a “big challenge” in the history of education system.
Pointing out that the concept of teaching has changed, she called upon the teachers to be informative and guide the students in the right direction.
On the occasion, 16 teachers from Dimapur were awarded the district teachers awarded 2013. The awards were handed over to the teachers by Dr. Arenla Tali.
SDEO Niuland Temjenaro spoke on the significance of Teacher’s Day and ANPSTA Dimapur unit president, Ahoto delivered the keynote address.
Meanwhile, Christina memorial higher secondary school, Aoyimti celebrated Teachers’ Day in the school premises with higher education director C. Khalong as chief guest.
A trophy Drafty was bagged by Helen Ao, as the Teacher of the The Year, 2013. CMHSS chief patron highlighted School at a glance starting from 1998 till date about progress, development, future vision etc.
GHS Sarbura Kashiram, Dimapur also celebrated Teachers’ Day at school premises with SDO (Civil) Dimapur Temjensangla as chief guest.
Highlights of the celebration included words of encouragement by M Panger, VEC chairman, presentation by Amongla, head-teacher, choreography etc.
MON: Deputy commissioner, Mon Angau I Thou, speaking at the Teachers’ Day celebration in Mon town, called upon the teachers to rededicate in their noble profession and continue to shape and mould the students to become responsible citizens of the society.
Asserting Teachers’ Day was celebrated as a tribute to the valuable contribution made by the teachers to the society, she said the day was also observed to give awareness and to invoke Gods blessing for the Teachers.
DC Mon appealed to the students to honour and respect their teachers for imparting lessons to them. She also asked the teachers to retrospect in their profession.
DC Mon gave away the District Level Teachers Award to the following 19 Teachers. Meanwhile, World Vision India Mon Area Development Program celebrated Teachers’ Day 2013 at government middle school Longkei. Gift was given away to 15 teaching staffs as a sign of appreciation and love.
TUENSANG: Deputy District Education Officer (DDEO) Tuensang, I. Sashi Ao, who addressed the celebration of Teachers’ Day at GHSS auditorium Tuensang, organized by Changsao Thangjam Setshang (CTS), said teachers played a vital role in the society and urged them to impart ‘quality education’ to students.
DDEO also called upon the teachers to be an ‘agent of change’ and a role model of the society and to execute their work with dedication, commitment and sincerity.
Meanwhile, Loyem Memorial High School Tuensang also observed celebrated Teachers’ day on Thursday at the school campus with Bhakmai Changkong as special guest.
Speaking on the occasion, Bhakmai exhorted the students to be sincere and dedicated and follow the footsteps of Dr. S. Radhakhrisnan.
LONGLENG: Teachers’ Day was celebrated at Phom Lempong Convention Hall, in Longleng on the Theme “touching hearts, changing lives”, organized by Longleng Town Students’ Union and sponsored by District Education Office, Longleng.
Exhorting the gathering of teachers and students of the district, Phom Baptist Christian Association (PBCA) Longleng women secretary P. Angphen Phom lauded the teachers for their tireless and commendable services.
She also urged the students to be active, sincere in their studies and take forward the attitude of respect and humble if one deserve for bright and meaningful future.
The celebration also witnesses a colourful songs and dances presentation by the students of different schools of the district. During the celebration Teachers’ Awards 2013 were awarded to six teachers.
MOKOKCHUNG: Teachers’ Day celebration, organized by Ao Students Conference (AKM), was held in a very solemn and grand ceremony at the Town Hall, Mokokchung, attended by more than a thousand teachers and students with Guahati High Court, Kohima bench registrar Mayang Lima as guest speaker.
Speaking at the function, guest speaker, Mayang Lima said “a teacher is a God in disguise’ and were were nation builders, who were behind every institutional growth.
He, however, cautioned the teachers to update themselves in their profession as teaching profession today was very different from yesteryears, where students have become more knowledgeable with the aid of the advancement in information and technology.
While greeting the teachers, SP Mokokchung Vikram Khalate said without the dedication of the teachers, the nation would have poorer societies. AKM president Akok Longkumer delivered the welcome address.
Vote of Thanks was moved by Rowainla, DEO, Mkokokchung. Sub-Divisional Awardees 2013 under SDEO Mokokchung were awarded to seven teachers, District Teacher’s Award under DEO, Mokokchung to 13 teachers and HSLC 2013 ‘Subject Topper’s Award’ & ‘Certificate of Meritorious, Recognition’ was accorded by Educational Forum of Mokokchung (EFoM). Teachers of the Subject Toppers were also recognized.
WOKHA: District level Teachers’ Day celebration was held at Tyui Hall, Wokha with MLA and Chairman, MARCOFED Mmhoblumo Kikon as chief guest.
Addressing the function, the chief guest lauded the teachers for their services and for being dedicated and committed towards the future of the society.
He said to produce good students, the role of teacher was very important, and urged the teachers to re-dedicate and commit themselves in educating the children with a vision to transform the education system. The chief guest also gave away meritorious certificates to the district Level Teacher awardees.
ZUNHEBOTO: Zunheboto district celebrated Teachers’ Day with parliamentary secretary for women development, co-operation & sericulture Pukhayi Sumi as the chief guest.
In his speech, the chief guest greeted all the past and present teachers and also recalled his own stint as a teacher for three years and added that teachers were like candles, it consumes itself to light the way for others. 22 teachers from various schools in Zunheboto district were given the District Teachers Award.
PHEK: Phek Combined Teachers’ Day was celebrated at Phek Town hall with deputy commissioner Phek NeposoThuluo gracing the function as chief guest.
Speaking on the occasion, DC lauded all the teachers for their generous tireless efforts and dedications in rendering their services for the students. He said teaching was a noble job because it spread education and built analytical capacity of the children.
A colorful entertainment was presented by all the schools and colleges of Phek Town. Thousands of students and teachers attended the function.
In Pfutsero, Teachers’ Day celebration and Teachers Award Ceremony was observed on at the conference hall of Additional Deputy Commissioner Office, Pfutsero.
TSEMINYU: Sub-divisional Education Office, Tseminyu also celebrated Teachers’ Day at Tseminyu Town Hall on the theme ‘It takes patience & sacrifice to be a teacher.’
On the occasion of Teachers’ day, Sub-divisional Teachers Award and Citations were given to three teachers. All private schools of Tseminyu town also celebrated the Teachers day.
SHAMATOR: Shamator also observed Teachers’ Day, which was attended by teachers and students of Shamator and graced by ADC Y.Kikon and SDEO Shamator, Anungla.
Altogether ten teachers were honoured with Sub-divisonal Teacher’s award and Village education committee (VEC), Kitsiukiur as the best VEC.
JALUKIE: Teachers Day was celebrated at Government Higher Secondary School, Barily Valley School, St-Xavier Higher Secondary School, Christian School Jalukie in Jalukie sub-division in their respective schools.
