Various Wokha based organizations have condemned the alleged rape of a 13-year old minor girl in Wokha town, officer’s hill colony on March 3 afternoon”.
In a joint statement, Old Changsu Union Wokha Town (OCUWT) chairman Wopen Kithan, Old Changsu Students’ Union (OCSU) president Thungchio Ngullie and Old Changsu Youth Organization Wokha Town (OCYOWT) president Mhao Ngullie condemned that shameful incident where a 13-year old girl was raped by one “Mhathung Ezung aged around 60 from Longsachung village” at the girl’s residence, officers’ hill Tsumang colony at Wokha on March 3 at around 2.30 p.m.
They said that the victim who hails from Old Changsu village was alone at home at the time of the incident as her parents were out at work and her siblings in school.
“The incident came to light when her elder brother saw the man raping her but the man fled after noticing the girl’s brother”, they said.
Later, after the parents were apprised, the police were informed and subsequently the accused was arrested, who also admitted to the crime, the organizations stated.
The organizations have urged upon the law enforcing agencies to award befitting punishment as per the law of the land.
OCWT: Officer’s Colony Wokha town (OCWT) also condemned the rape committed by one Mhathung Ezung (64), a resident of officer’s colony Wokha town on a 13-year old minor girl of the same colony at the victim’s residence.
In a joint statement, OCWT chairman S. Pisamo Ovung, secretary Yanthithung Patton, Eloe Ekhung, officers colony chairperson Chandeno Ngullie and secretary Meribeni Kikon said that such barbaric and heinous crime should be condemned by every right thinking citizen.
They urged upon the law enforcing agency to give due punishment as per the law of the land. Failure on the part of the law enforcing agency would not be tolerated by any civilized society, they said.
