ACAUT Nagaland has opposed the move of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) to extend the tenure of the select committee on Nagaland Lokayukta Bill 2015 by another six months, instead asked the committee to table the report in the monsoon session of the assembly in July 2017. In a statement, ACAUT media cell reminded NLA that tenure of select committee on Nagaland Lokayukta Bill 2015 was for six months and extendable by another six months at a time, which has been expired.
However, in the sixteenth special session of the 12th NLA on May 27, 2017 the chief minister had revived the tenure of the committee. In this regard, ACAUT demanded that the committee to table the report in the monsoon session as the report was ready.
Also, ACAUT said that on May 26, 2017, upon invitation by the chief minister at his office, they had submitted a petition to Dr.Shürhozelie Liezietsü demanding that the Lokayukta Bill be implemented during the monsoon session. ACAUT therefore urged Dr.Shürhozelie to apply his wisdom and institute the Lokayukta in Nagaland.
