Governor of Nagaland, PB Acharya, has extended greetings to the Gorkha community of Nagaland on the occasion of Bhanu Jayanti, the birth anniversary of Gorkha poet late Bhanu Bhakta Acharya.
In a message, the governor said Bhanu Bhakta Acharya, who was born in Nepal in 1884, made Nepali language a common tongue for almost 61 Gorkha tribes before the Nepal monarch Prithivi Narayan Shaha declared the Gorkha language, now Nepali, as the National and Palace language.
The Governor stated that Bhanu Jayanti must be celebrated as the festival of learning and every individual should look up to the great poet as an inspiration.
He called upon the Gorkha community to continue safeguarding and promoting their rich culture and traditions.  Acharya prayed that this auspicious occasion brings peace, prosperity and progress and strengthens fellowship among the people of the state.
