A sensitization program on Education and Health Issues of the Girl Child and Seminar on Women Empowerment through Employment Opportunities, under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao scheme 2018, was organized by district administration in collaboration with Lotha Eloe Hoho (LEH), Social Welfare and Medical departments at Chukitong block on November 24.
According to a DIPR report, resource persons included psychologist, NTCP, Abeni Kikon, EAC Chukitong, Imliakum Sanglir and president, Lotha Eloe Hoho Zuchobeni Ezong.
The objective of organizing such events is to promote the importance of the girl child by imparting trainings on livelihood activities like knitting, weaving, paper bag making, broom making, pickle making etc. Ten beneficiaries each from Chukitong and Niroyo area are to be identified and the same to be submitted to LEH by the CDPO through the Anganwadi workers.
The beneficiaries can be either from SHGs or any deserving persons. The above information was given to the gathering during the sensitization program. For conducting various scheduled training programs, information will be given after finalization of the dates and times. Hundreds of participants, including adolescent girls and parents, took part in the function. A similar program will be conducted at Niroyo area on November 27.
