Mahila Shakti Kendra along with DTF BBBP celebrated girl child week on the theme “Empowering Girls for a Brighter Tomorrow” at Christian High School, Longleng on August 5.
The main objectives of the celebration was to create awareness on girl child rights and facts of life and to address the girl child issues associated to their health, respect, education, nutrition etc.
EAC Hq. Longleng, Rohbi Sangtam in his keynote address stated that girls should stand for their rights and pursue in which ever field they are interested.
Headmaster Christian High School, Shiju Anthony,in his welcome speech appreciated the DTF,BBBP& MSK Longleng for organizing the programme.
He asked the girl students to take such programme as an opportunity for their welfare.
District coordinator, Tutinungla Phom gave a brief introduction on girl child week celebration while WWO MSK Longleng spoke on the importance of girl child rights. Importance on girl child issues and needs were also discussed.
Information on Sakhi-One Stop Centre Longleng was highlighted by counselor Nyangyungsangla Phom .
After the programme, a special session was conducted where the girl students were given opportunities to explore their talent in which students presented original songs, quotation, poem, speech etc.
Gift hamper were given to all the girls students who attended the programme. The programme was attended by DTF BBBP, High school girls students, teachers and the OSC team Longleng.
