Yaongyimsen Student’s Union Dimapur (YSUD) won the 1st Open Penalty Shootout organised by Merangkong Student’s Union Dimapur (MSUD) at GHSS ground, Half Nagarjan here on Saturday.
In the final, YSUD defeated Valley View team to win the trophy.
Imlisungit of YSUD was named as the best goalkeeper. 21 teams participated in the shootout with Vihokhe K and Nzan as the referees. Earlier, the championship was graced by Dimapur Municipal Council ward 9 Councillor Lanutoshi Yaden, as guest of honour.
Lanutoshi, in his speech emphasized on the power of teamwork, where individuals come together, pooling their strengths to achieve a common goal. He also highlighted the importance of perseverance, showcasing how determination and relentless efforts are key to overcoming obstacles.
He reminded the players that failure should not be seen as a setback but as a challenge to learn, grow and strive harder for victory. “Today, sports in Nagaland have become a dynamic platform that unites people from all walks of life”, he further added.
