A fire that broke out early Sunday morning in Lane 7 of Kevijau Colony, near St. Lewis Academy School, has left five families homeless.
According to fire officials, they received report of fire at 4:30 am. Thereafter, two fire tenders — one each from Central and West fire station — were immediately pressed into service to control the fire.
While no casualties or injuries have been reported, the fire, believed to have been caused by an electrical short circuit, caused significant damage. The total value of the property lost is yet to be determined. Colony residents reported that two to three LPG cylinders exploded during the fire, adding to the devastation.
