To prevent accident, the Penli ward authority, Mokokchung constructed iron railings in two narrow stretches within the ward.
Speaking to Nagaland Post, chairman of the ward authority, Imliyanger said the ward has many narrow roads but the two particular stretches, one in the lower lane and the other in upper lane, was unsafe for both pedestrians and motorists.
Since, the construction of footpaths or culvert was not possible, the chairman said that the ward authority opted to construct railings with strong concrete foundations.
He said that the construction was carried out by the ward authority without any assistance from the government.
