Akumienla L. Imchen, a Lance Naik from the 15 IR Mahila battalion has secured bronze medal at the 11th Commonwealth Karate Championships, held from November 28 to December 1 in Durban, South Africa.
This remarkable achievement makes her the first individual from Nagaland to earn a medal at an international karate competition, bringing honor and laurels to the state and the nation as well.
Imchen has consistently demonstrated exceptional dedication and skill throughout her career, including her bronze medal win at the 8th South Asian Karate Championship earlier this year.
Announcing her big win, the All Nagaland Karate-Do Association (ANKA) has extended heartfelt congratulations to Akumienla L. Imchen for the outstanding accomplishment and expresses gratitude for her role in elevating Nagaland’s presence on the global karate stage.
The association also expressed gratitude to her coach, Temsu Sangtam of Logdrum Karate Club, Sangtamtilla, Dimapur, for his invaluable guidance and support. A special note of appreciation is also extended to ANKA President T. Sangtam for his financial support, which significantly contributed to Imchen’s successful journey to South Africa.
