The Nagaland Football Association (NFA) met with the Chief Minister of Nagaland, Dr. Neiphiu Rio, on Wednesday at his residential office in Kohima, expressing their gratitude and sharing their upcoming plans for football development in the state.
During the meeting, the NFA conveyed its profound appreciation for the chief minister’s unwavering support and active involvement in football-related initiatives. The association particularly highlighted the overwhelming assistance provided by the state government under Dr. Rio’s leadership, which contributed to its recognition with the prestigious “Special Award for Member Association Launching New Projects” at the AIFF Awards 2024-25.
Acknowledging the government’s role in supporting football development, the NFA credited Dr. Rio for facilitating key projects and initiatives, including the successful execution of the Nagaland Super League 2024-25. The association noted that such efforts have significantly bolstered the football ecosystem in the state.
In addition, the NFA briefed the chief minister on its upcoming plans, particularly the proposed hosting of AIFF’s Dr. T Ao Junior Girls National Football Tournament 2025. The association also outlined other activities aimed at promoting youth participation and further strengthening the sport in Nagaland.
Dr. Rio, in response, expressed joy and pride over the NFA’s achievement, congratulating the association and the Nagaland football community for their notable success. The chief minister reaffirmed his commitment to advancing sports in the state, underscoring his vision of empowering youth through athletics.
